Hyperhidrosis for Children and Endothoracic Sympathectomy
This article by the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia offers a viewpoint regarding thoracoscopic sympathectomy (minimally invasive thoracic sympathectomy) as a viable treatment option for those with Hyperhidrosis.
In this video, Dr. Pablo Laje, MD, at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia describes the process, safety, and effectiveness of the operation as well as some potential side effects such as compensatory sweating.
The results show patients reporting dry hands all from two small incisions on each underarm and cutting a little nerve along the spine during the operation. As always, it is recommended that patients try topical solutions to address excessive sweating prior to any form of invasive form of surgery - invasive or noninvasive.
"The results were immediate. I woke up and my hands were extremely dry" (CHOP).
